Have you always wanted to pursue acting but didn't know how to begin? Are you a professional actor frustrated by classes that don't make you a better, more employable actor? We are offering a very focused but fun class for beginners, one for intermediate actors (perhaps transitioning from another area of the arts) and one for advanced professionals. Each six week session ends with an opportunity to showcase your work to a NYC casting director.
The six week audition class focuses on new American playwrights and screenwriters. Work on your cold reading, script analysis and monologue skills in a supportive but honest environment. The final class of each session is a showcase for an A-list casting director where you do a monologue and a scene. All classes "team-taught" by professional NY actor/teachers Rob Sedgwick (School of Visual Arts faculty) and Catherine Russell (NYU faculty). All classes taught on an Off-Broadway theater stage at the The Theater Center in midtown Manhattan.
Sign up now for our brand new Business of Acting class. There will be no acting in this class – only business. Pursuing an acting career can be very lonely. In this class, Cathy and Rob and a network of fellow actors will support, advise and challenge you to become a working actor.
Each student will set individually tailored, achievable goals and then come up with a list of specific tasks to accomplish those goals.
Students will be divided into smaller groups and will follow up and communicate between classes during the six week course and then during the ensuing year. For more information click the link above.
